Google Will Provide Free Wi-Fi at Indian Railway Stations

American multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products and also the worlds biggest search engine Google Inc is going to provide free high speed WiFi access to almost 400 railway stations through out India.

After a mega revamp of the IRCTC website, Google has come forward to provide free Wi-Fi at more than 400 railway stations across the country. It’s google joint collaboration with Indian Railways, the service will be using Google Fiber project, popularly known to provide fast broadband in the USA.

Service by Google is said to be expanded to Indian cities under the name ‘Project Nilgiri’. While the connectivity will remain throughout, high speed data transfer will be available for only the first 30 minutes.

The project will be up and running in the coming four months. Passengers at the selected railway stations will be able to access free internet within its premises for the first 34 minutes, after which the speed will reduce. However, the connectivity won’t be hampered.
